Trees and Woodland

The trees and woodland webpages are currently being developed
and will soon offer further useful information and advice about the
trees in Peterborough, tree care and links to other helpful
websites.
Further information about tree preservation orders,
trees in conservation areas, trees on development sites and private
trees in general can be found on trees on private land.
Further information about the trees and woodland
owned by the Council, including in the streets, parks, shelterbelts
and woodlands can be found on on Council owned trees.
To assist the Council in ensuring it manages its trees
effectively and consistently a tree and woodland strategy has been
adopted.
Current Trees and
Woodlands Strategy (201KB, 20 pages)
Peterborough City Council adopted its first tree strategy in
1998. Since then legislation affecting trees and
Council policy has changed, particularly with the introduction of
the Community Strategy. This new strategy links Council policy to
the "Strategy for England's Trees, Woods and Forests" published by
DEFRA in 2007. Many community groups have
already been contacted asking for their
comments. If you would like to comment on this
strategy, please do so in writing to Mr P Fountain, Senior Open
Space Officer, City Services, Nursery Lane, Fengate, Peterborough
PE1 5BG, or by e-mail to trees@peterborough.gov.uk.
All comments must be received by 5th October
2007.
