The Competition
Start Doing Something New Today! is an annual competition,
organised by the Peterborough Enterprise Programme, to find Greater
Peterborough's best new small business
idea.
The best new small business idea might be either...
- an idea for the establishment of a completely new business
- an idea for a new product or service from within an existing business (with no more than five employees)
- a new business idea that has been trading for less than six months
In selecting the winning entrant, the judges will not
necessarily be looking for the most innovative business idea, nor
the idea with the potential to generate the highest turnover or
profit.
Rather the judges are looking for ideas that represent new
ventures for the individual or enterprise concerned and demonstrate
the potential to succeed. The winning entry is
as likely to be from an existing home-based catering enterprise as
it is from a prospective software company.
In particular, the judges will be assessing how each application demonstrates...
- Creativity: New approaches to familiar markets
- Planning and research, including a well thought out business plan
- Market awareness: An understanding of your chosen market
- Commitment to realise the idea, irrespective of whether it wins
- Alignment with the individual's own personal circumstances and goals
