Children

  • Children can browse a selection of new books, tell people what they think about books they've read in our share a book section and see their own stories, poems and jokes published in the your stuff pages.

  • Find out what facilities our homework clubs offer and where and when they are.

  • For those who like talking about books as well as making new friends, how about joining one of our Chatterbooks reading groups?

We've also come up with some other sites that we think you'll be interested in.

Are you Peterborough's next Young Poet of the Year?

The competition is now open to all 8-12 year olds who are either members of Peterborough Libraries and / or live or go to school in Peterborough.

The theme this year is "Dreams of Gold" and you are asked to write a poem of up to 20 lines inspired by this theme. Send your poem along with the completed entry form to Gill Benedikz, Central Library, Broadway, Peterborough, PE1 1RX by Monday 2nd June.  You can get an entry form from your local library or by downloading from this site.  Time is short so get writing.

The short listed candidates will win free entry for themselves and a parent / carer to day 1 of Flag Fen's Eistedfodd (visit http://www.flagfen.com/ for details) on 14th June.  You will be able to enjoy all that is on offer and then take part in the Young Poet of the Year final scheduled to begin at about 1pm.  The winner and runners up will be chosen by independent judges and prizes will be offered by Waterstones.
