How do I find my nearest library and when is it open?

What if I lose my ticket?

Please notify library staff, who will set the card to lost. To get a replacement card we will need to see proof of name and address. On joining you will get a free card.  Therre will be a fee for subsequent replacements. Back to FAQ list

How many items can I borrow?

Up to 12 items on your card, which includes a maximum of 5 chargeable items (CDs, videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs). Back to FAQ list

How can I find out if you have what I need at the Library?

You have different ways of doing it:
  • By searching the library catalogue online - you will need your PIN number to do this.
  • By telephoning Peterborough Libraries on (01733) 864280 who will search the catalogue for you.

Can I reserve an item?

Yes providing it is within our stock.
  • You can place a hold on an item online, by telephone or in person.  This is a free service, although there is a charge if you don't collect an item you have requested.
  • You can telephone the relevant library and ask to set aside the item for you if it has been checked in . Back to FAQ list

Can I request an item not on the Catalogue?

Yes. We will endeavour to get the item for you through our Inter Library Loan system. There is a charge for this service . Please contact Peterborough Libraries on ( 01733) 864280. Please note this service is not available for audio visual items such as DVDs, CDs, CD-ROMs. Back to FAQ list

How do I renew my books?

  • Online using the library catalogue online - you will need your card number and PIN.
  • By telephoning 08458 505 606, our automated telephone renewal available 24hrs - you will need your PIN number.
  • By telephoning (01733) 864280 during library opening hours.
  • In person at any of our libraries.

Can I return my books, etc., to any Library?

What if I receive an overdue notice?

If you receive an overdue notice and you have returned your books etc., please contact Peterborough Libraries on (01733) 864280.
If you receive an overdue notice that does not belong to you, please contact Peterborough Libraries on (01733) 864280 in order that we can amend our records. Back to FAQ list

How do I get my PIN number?

Are there photocopying/fax facilities at the Libraries?

How do I book a room at the Library?

Is there a service for people with mobility problems, ill health, special needs?

The Library Link Service takes the library to housebound customers and their carers. Volunteer library visitors call once a month to deliver books, tapes and information. Please telephone (01733) 864280 for more details.

I want to trace my Family History, what resources are available?

The Library has many resources available, including census, church registers and genealogical indexes, some of which are on microfilm/microfiche - you will need to book a reader/printer to view these. For more information see our Family History page or telephone (01733) 864280. Back to FAQ list

Do you have local history information?

Can I access the Internet at Peterborough Libraries using Wi-Fi?
