Applications for Works to Trees

Permission is needed before works can be carried out to a tree
protected by a tree preservation order.
Notice must be given of works to trees in a Conservation Area
(if stem diameter is 7.5 cm or over, when measured at 1.5 metres
above ground level) six weeks before any works are carried out.
This gives the local authority the opportunity to consider:
- the amenity value of the tree
- the impact of the works
- protecting the tree by serving a tree preservation order if necessary
The Tree Work Application Form can be downloaded in
PDF format from the Application
Forms page.
Further
information is available from the Department for Communities
and Local Government (DCLG).
Applications for works to trees are listed in
the online Planning Applications
Register and weekly
publications.
Further information on application submission is
available on the Development Control
Process pages.
