Collections and Catalogues


The catalogues for all the collections that are available can be viewed in hard-copy form in the Local Studies and Archives Room on the ground floor of the Central Library.

 

The collections that have been catalogued are:

  • Amalgamated Union of Co-operative Employees 1914-1966 

(records relating to the Union at a national, regional and local level)

  • Amies and Sons 1921-1925

(local ironmongers and builders merchants)

  • Building Bye-law Plans on Microfiche, 1874-1975 (covering Peterborough City, Peterborough Rural District Council, Fletton Urban District Council, Thorney, Barnack and Norman Cross Rural District Councils) View Online Exhibition New Collection!

(including brochures, catalogues and photographs of this well known local company who also became famous world-wide)

  • Barford and Perkins Limited 1905-1916

(local engineering firm)

  • Boongate Title Deeds 1696-1834

(a couple of these deeds are written in Latin)

  • Peter Brotherhood Photographs, 1994 (277 black and white photographs taken at the Peter Brotherhood factory in Walton prior to its demolition) New Collection!
  • Buckles Map Collection 1886-1970 

(a collection of Ordnance Survey maps collected together by Buckles Solicitors)

  • Butler Railway Photographs, 1954-1984, (59 black and white photographs featuring steam railway rolling stock, railway buildings and works in the Peterborough area) View Online Exhibition New Collection!

(local leather merchants and ironmongers)

  • G D Day 1904-1914

(solicitor based in St Ives who managed the sale of properties in and around Peterborough)

  • Deacon's School Archive, 1686-2006 (comprising records relating to Mr Deacon's charity, governors, headteachers, teachers, pupils, administration, promotions, events and activities, associations and photographs etc) View Online Exhibition New Collection!
  • Eye Green Former Station and Goods Yard 1973

(material relates to the sale of the former station and goods yard)

  • Fletton Infant Welfare Association 

(minute book of the Association and material relating to the opening of a new Child Welfare Centre)

  • Stan Foreman Memoirs 2005

(a local man from Stanground who has written about his experience of the Second World War)

(including details of the property sales and auctions for these local auctioneers and estate agents)

  • J P Hall and Sons Engineers, 1850-1998 (legal papers relating to the factory in Queen's Walk, Fletton; administration records; and photographs) New Collection!
  • Netherton Neighbourhood Association, 1992-2005 (comprising consitution, minutes, reports, newsletters and correspondence) New Collection!
  • Northborough Parish Council, 1820-1970 (comprising Northborough Inclosure Award 1820, minute books and receipt and payment book) New Collection!
  • W H Pentney and Son 1921-1922

(material relates to an inventory of the premises of W H Pentney and Son)

(including the official signed minutes)

(including Society minutes, film posters and reviews)

(their aims were to improve and promote literature and friendship, and this archive consists of minute books and library)

(consists of copies of 'The Technene' magazine)

  • Peterborough Town Football Club 1904-1905

(consists of a photograph of the Senior Cup winning team)

  • Stanground with Farcet Enclosure Act 1801-1806

(consists of a copy of the Enclosure Act)

  • Transport Salaried Staffs' Association Eastern Divisional Council 1947-1967

(consists of minute books)

  • Len Voller Memoirs 1993

(a local man from New England, Peterborough who has written about his activities during the Second World War)

  • Wansford Parish Fields Collection 1970

(consists of a map, and guide to the field names, footpaths and hedgerows)

  • Woodcroft Castle 2003
(consists of a sales brochure and a newspaper article relating to this local thirteenth century property)
