Prescribed Processes
The Pollution Prevention and Control Act 1999 (PPC) makes
certain industrial processes apply for and obtain a permit in order
to operate, these are called prescribed processes. More
information on industrial air pollution and prescribed processes
can be found on the Environmental
Protection UK web site.
Prescribed process are split into three designations: Part A(1), Part A(2) &
Part B. A permit covering Part A(1) and Part A(2) sites will
consider issues such as emissions to air, land and water and energy
and water usage. A Part B permit only considers emissions to
air.
A public register of any relevant
information relating to the permit is kept by the
regulator. The public registers are kept by
either the
Environment Agency or Peterborough City Council depending
on the type of process.
