Statutory Development Plan
The term "Development Plan" has particular importance in planning legislation. Most planning decisions (including planning applications) have to use the contents of the Statutory Development Plan as their starting point before other considerations are taken into account. But the Statutory Development Plan (simply known as the Development Plan) is not a single document. It consists of a number of documents. Each one may be amended or replaced over time.
At present the Statutory Development Plan for Peterborough
comprises the:
Additional Council approved
guidance to the Local Plan (formerly known as
Supplementary Planning Guidance) is also available. Each of
these documents has the status of a material consideration in
the decision making process.
The Local Development Framework
A new system of plan-making was introduced by the Planning and
Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. This requires local
planning authorities to replace their current development plan
documents with Local Development
Frameworks (LDF).
The programme of work and timetable for producing the
documents is contained in the Local Development Scheme
(LDS) (588 KB, 50 pages).
Review and Monitoring
Key aspects of the Statutory Development Plan are monitored.
A Local Development Framework
Annual Monitoring Report provides details of the progress
in the production of various documents and the extent to which
policies are being sucessfully implemented.
