Sunday trading notifications
Large shops (those over 280m2) are limited to opening for only 6 hours on a Sunday. They may trade for any six hour period between 10.00am and 6.00pm. There are no such restrictions on shops under this size. Some shops will open earlier so that customers may browse, but they cannot make any sales during this time.
Certain retail activities are exempted from these requirements, for example:- Farm shops selling farm produce, wholesale, registered pharmacy's, airport shops, petrol station and service stations and the sale of motor supplies and accessories.
All large shops must display their trading hours both inside
and outside the premises.
The
Safety Team are
responsible for ensuring that the relevant shops trade only within
their displayed hours and for no longer the permitted maximum of
six hours.
Large shops may not open on Easter Sunday or Christmas
day if it falls on a Sunday.
