Licensing Act 2003

The Licensing Act 2003 replaced six existing licensing regimes (alcohol, public entertainment, cinemas, theatres, late night refreshment house and night cafes). These have been replaced with a new single integrated scheme for licensing premises carried out by local authorities in the form of:

  • Personal Licences
  • Premises Licence
  • Club Premises Licence
  • Temporary Event Notices (TENS)

The new licensing powers came into force on 7th February 2005 and transferred responsibility from the Magistrates Court to Peterborough City Council and adds public houses, clubs, off-licences, restaurants and any other premises selling alcohol to the list of premises to be licensed by us.
