Non-emergency patient transport
services
Free non-emergency patient transport services (NEPTS) are
restricted to those patients who have a clear medical need which
prevents them from using public or community-based transport.
Only your hospital doctor or your GP are authorised to assess
patients' eligibility for NEPTS.
NEPTS only covers journeys to and from hospital and does not
cover travel to general practitioners (GPs), dentists or
opticians.
Patients are advised to use this service only when absolutely
necessary because of medical need. Medical need ranges from
patients who cannot walk unassisted for more than a few metres to
very high dependency patients requiring oxygen en-route.
Family members are also asked to make their own way to the
hospital.
If you need to cancel a booking please ring 01733
875144 as soon as possible (for bookings under mental health
services, podiatry and Doddington Hospital please ring 01733
362692).
There is also support for those patients who cannot afford
access to transport to healthcare (please see Hospital Travel Costs
Scheme).
