Adoption
We appreciate that choosing to adopt a child is not a decision to be taken lightly.
Many people think about adoption for a long time before they
contact us. These pages will provide you with the information you
need and the support available from the adoption team to enable you
to feel more informed and ready to take the next step.We want to find the right families to match with the children
who need to be adopted. We offer an ongoing support service to
adoptive families and their children, throughout their lives.
People from all walks of life are needed to meet the diverse
needs of children. There are many children between the ages of
0-10, sometimes older, needing adoptive families who can make a
lifelong commitment.
We always need more adopters for;
- older children
- brothers and sisters
- children with learning and/or physical disabilities
All the children will have had a difficult start in life,
which will have implications for their future care and therefore
for their adopters.
Our adoption team welcomes single people and couples,
irrespective of ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation,
martial status or disability. You do need to be over the age of 21
and have a positive outlook, energy, enthusiasm and
commitment.
You could make a valuable difference to a child's life and future.
There are many reasons why children cannot live with their
birth family. Adoption by a new family enables these children to
have a stable, secure and loving upbringing. All the parental
responsibilities and the duties of the birth parents are
transferred by a court order to the adoptive parents. This will
give you the same rights and responsibilities as all other
parents.
We will be with you all of the way, offering help,
encouragement, support and guidance, assisting you through every
aspect of the application process and beyond.
Our commitment is to help make adoption a positive and
rewarding experience for you and the child.
