Foundation Learning will benefit young people who are not yet
ready to start a Level 2 course or begin work or training.
Foundation Learning provides personalised learning for young
people working at Entry level and Level 1. The next step for
these learners may be courses leading to independent living,
supported employment or Level 2 qualifications and training.
The average length of a course will be around
24 weeks. A typical Foundation Learning course will consist
of:-
1) A vocational qualification.
This is to train you in a specific occupational area, for
example:-
- Business Administration
- Catering
- Childcare
- Customer Service
- Hairdressing
- Information Technology
- Joinery
- Motor vehicle
- Painting & Decorating
2) Literacy, numeracy and ICT that are
known as functional skills.
3) Activities to further personal and
social development such as work preparation or learning how to live
independently.
