Young People on an expedition as part of the Duke of Edinburgh award

The Duke of Edinburgh's award can be completed through your local youth club, Voluntary Youth Organisation, School, College or University.  It is open to all young people aged 14 to 24 years regardless of ability or qualifications.  Young people should be reasonably fit to undertake expeditions.  No special qualifications are required, just a willingness to have a go.  The D of E Award is a memorable and rewarding experience that can help you fulfil your potential, whatever your background. 

If you have completed a Duke of Edinburgh Award you can volunteer to help others achieve their Award.  There is free training available.  If you are interested please contact Lisa Alexander for an informal chat (see below).

The scheme has three levels:

Bronze

  • Minimum age 14 years
  • Minimum length of time 6 months

Silver

  • Minimum age 15 years
  • Minimum length of time 12 months
  • Length of time if you have completed the previous level 6 months

Gold

  • Minimum age 16 years
  • Minimum length of time 18 months
  • Length of time if you have completed the previous level 12 months
