
Financial help with housing
Local Housing Allowance and Housing Benefit
This replaces Housing Benefit for private sector tenants.
The amount payable will be based on the 'middle of the range'
rental figure for the area. If you live in council
accommodation or other social housing you will still get Housing
Benefit.
Help with your mortgage
This is available as part of Income Support,
Job-Seekers Allowance or Pension Credit.
Disability Reduction
Scheme
A non-means tested reduction of the council
tax bill for those who use a wheelchair indoors, or have a bathroom
or other room specifically for the use of a disabled person.
Council Tax Discount / Second Adult
Rebate / Council Tax Benefit
Council Tax Discount reduces your bill by 25%
if there are less than two adults in the household. There may
be a Second Adult Rebate if you live with an adult other than your
partner, who is on a low income (e.g. a son or daughter).
Council Tax Benefit helps those on a low income.
Disabled Facilities Grant
These are awarded where better access for the disabled is
required in your home. The maximum is £25,000.
