We do not charge for initial notices, you will
however have to pay the approved inspector for the service provided
and you should make sure you know in advance what this charge will
be.
For small extensions to both domestic and
non-domestic work, the charge depends on the floor area created and
this is measured internally. For extensions of more than one
storey, the floor area of each storey needs to be added together
when calculating the total floor area on which the charge will be
based.
Where you intend to build more than one extension the principle
category or largest extension attracts the main fee with subsequent
extensions or building works being charged at 50% of the relevant
category fee (providing the total floor area is 60m sq or less for
domestic works, and 100m sq or less for non-domestic work). Where
the total floor area of a domestic extension exceeds 60m
sq for domestic work or 100m sq for non-domestic projects, the
charge will be independently determined, and you will need to
obtain a quote by
contacting this office. If your intended
work is being carried out only for the benefit of a disabled person
then the application will always be dealt with entirely free of
charge, however this may be subject to some specific
conditions being met.
Next you need to select the type of work. Do
you intend to:

Please note:
The use of Part P registered
electricians
To reflect the Local Authority's costs, if
relevant electrical work is carried out using a qualified Part P
registered electrician, the standard charges are significantly
reduced.
A supplementary inspection or Building Notice
charge will not apply when any notifiable
electrical work is carried out using a Part P registered
electrician, or if the only electrical work carried out is
non-notifiable (your electrician should be aware of the definition
of non-notifiable work).
A Part P registered electrician is a qualified
electrician who also has the necessary Building Regulations
knowledge to enable his accreditation body to certify his work. If
anyone other than a Part P registered electrician undertakes the
electrical work, the reduced charge is not applicable.
