Do I need planning permission?

Solar panels on non-residential buildings

Permitted development rights relating to the installation of solar panels on non-residential buildings and within their curtilage are contained within Part 43 (Classes A & B) of The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (Amendment) (England) Order 2012 (SI 2012 No. 748).

Wind turbine on non-residential buildings

Currently there are no regulations granting permitted development rights to install a wind turbine, either on or within the curtilage of non-residential buildings. As such planning permission will be required before a turbine can be installed.
