  • All plastic bottles including bleach, shampoo and milk bottles
  • Junk mail and envelopes
  • Telephone directories and catalogues
  • Shredded paper (contained within an envelope or cardboard box)
  • Large metal sweet/biscuit tins

  • Plastic tubs, trays, pots and plastic film
  • Polystyrene
  • Black bags and carrier bags
  • Food
  • Textiles
  • Pyrex and ceramics
  • Paint Tins (these can be taken to the Householders Recycling Centre)
  • Small electricals (these can be taken to the Householders Recycling Centre)
  • Energy saving lightbulbs and household batteries (these can be taken to your local recycling bank. Click here to find out where your nearest recycling bank is.)

Do's and don'ts

  • Please place materials in the bin loosely - no bags
  • Please rinse out all bottles, jars, tins and cans
  • Shredded paper can be placed in your green bin, please ensure it is contained within an envelope or cardboard box
  • If there is a sticker on the inside of your black bin lid please remove this as the information is now out of date
