Householders recycling centre

This site operates free of charge for members of the public to dispose of their household waste, so that as much as possible can be recycled. 
It is run by a private company on behalf of the council. Business waste is not accepted at this site. If you want to dispose of business waste please visit our business waste page.

Opening Times

Summer months

1st April to 30th September

Open 7 days a week from 8am to 6pm

Late night opening unitl 8pm Mondays and Thursdays

Winter months

1st October to 31st March

Open 7 days a week from 8am to 4pm

 

Special dates

 

Bank holiday; site closes at 4pm

Site closes at 12pm; Christmas Eve and 12 pm New Years Eve

Site closed; Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day

We accept the following items for recycling

  • Batteries; including car and normal household batteries
  • Cardboard
  • Cooking oil
  • Electrical items- including white goods
  • Fluorescent tubes
  • Garden waste
  • Gas bottles
  • Hardcore and rubble
  • Household and garden chemicals
  • Mixed glass
  • Newspapers and magazines
  • Paint
  • Paper
  • Plastic bottles
  • Scrap metal
  • Soil
  • Textiles; please tie shoes together and place in a plastic bag
  • Used engine oil

If you are using a van or trailer to dispose of your waste you will need to apply for a permit.  These are free of charge and can be applied for online or over the phone.

If you are looking to dispose of furniture in a reasonable condition or working electrical white goods please consider passing these items on to a local charity:

Working white goods can be taken to our WEEE Reuse facility where they will be redistributed to charities and low income familes.
