Chance To Influence Budget Proposals At Neighbourhood Committee

9 January 2012

People can learn more about proposals to spend money on projects where they live by attending their local Peterborough West neighbourhood committee meeting at the Ramada Hotel, Thorpe Meadows, Peterborough, on Thursday 12 January 2012 at 7pm.

Proposals to spend Peterborough City Council's neighbourhood committee budget allocation of £25,000 will be presented on plans for:

  • Two CCTV cameras for The Grange in Mayor's Walk
  • The installation of 16 waste and recycling bins across all wards
  • Vehicle activated speed limit signs for Thorpe Road
  • A pilot scheme to tackle verge parking issues in Hartwell Way

Residents will also hear a presentation illustrating the impact new developments have made to securing school places. Jonathan Lewis, Assistant Director for Education and Resources at Peterborough City Council, will also provide an overview of exam results and report the latest Ofsted feedback for primary and secondary schools in the area.

People can have their say on how Enterprise Peterborough services their local area and there will be an opportunity to comment on progress made to solve verge parking issues following an update from city council officials.

The meeting will also be a chance for people to find out more about the city council's planned improvements of transport and engineering works in the area. A display will also show areas that were improved over the last year.

Julie Rivett, Peterborough City Council's Neighbourhood Manager for North and West, said: "Residents attending this meeting will be able to influence the areas identified for spend from the community budget as well as challenge and contribute to discussion around the other agenda items.

"There will also be an open session for members of the public to raise anything that affects their community and we will be addressing issues and concerns residents highlighted at our last meeting."

Ends.
