Designated Public Place Order (DPPO)

Peterborough City Council is taking action to tackle public drunkenness and the associated anti-social behaviour by enforcing Designated Public Places Orders in the areas of the city.

Orders will mean if a person continues to drink in the area when asked not do so by a police officer, they could be arrested and fined £500 if convicted. The police can also arrest anyone failing to surrender alcohol in the area when asked to do so.

This order will not prevent people from drinking in the designated areas outside licensed premises such as beer gardens or in their own gardens.  A map of Designated Public Places Orders in Peterborough is available by calling 01733 747474 and asking for the SaferPeterborough Team.
