What to do if you think you are at risk

  • Plan an emergency escape and get additional support if possible.
  • Keep money safe for taxi, bus fares and telephone calls.
  • Make sure you have your key to the house.
  • Have clothes ready for you and your children in case you need to get away quickly.
  • Find out the telephone numbers of useful agencies that can help you, such as your local Women’s Aid group, the police, Victim Support and Social Services.
  • Try to have any benefit books, rent book, your marriage certificate, birth certificate and medicines that you may need with you when you leave.
