Cycling
Cycling is a fun, healthy and convenient means of
transport and Peterborough has an excellent cycle
network.
The SaferPeterborough partnership road safety team has
information available for adults, teenagers and children that
covers safer cycling issues. If you would like a copy of any of the
following booklets please contact the road safety team at roadsafety@peterborough.gov.uk.
- Safer Cycling - an excellent book which covers various road
positions for children aged 10 years and above
- The RoSPA Bicycle Owner’s Handbook – aimed at adults and
teenagers this book contains advice on areas of cycling from what
to wear, maintenance and road positioning.
- A Parents' Guide to Safer Cycling – a booklet which contain
advice for parents of children who are starting to cycle on the
road and independently
- Starting to cycle; A guide for parents – information and advice
for parents of young children who are about to purchase their
child’s first cycle
The city council run a Safer Cycling Course. The scheme
encourages children to develop a positive attitude towards cycling
and promotes their knowledge, skills and understanding of the road
environment.
Cycle training is available free of charge for primary students
aged 10 and over. If a school would like to undertake cycle
training then an instructor is required. If you are interested in
becoming an instructor, please contact the SaferPeterborough
partnership road safety team.
