Burglary Dwelling

Reducing and solving burglary involves active contribution from a number of organsations. Whilst the police are responsible for the day-to-day investigation of offences, many others are involved in behind the scenes work.

Operation Alert is a multi-agency initiative that targets the most prolific offenders. Contributions from housing associations, Peterborough City Council, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Probation Trust, trading standards, and education services means we are able to identify those actively involved in burglary.

Crucially, the public have an important role to play with Neighbourhood Watch schemes and residents associations working closely with Neighbourhood Policing Teams.

The police have a specialist team of detectives who investigate burglary, with every scene being attended by a crime scene investigator who conducts a detailed forensic analysis to recover fingerprint or DNA evidence.
