The Taxi Licensing section licences all hackney Carriage Vehicles, Private Hire Vehicles, Private Hire And Hackney Carriage Drivers and Operators.
The section ensures that:
- Drivers and operators involved in the private hire or hackney carriage trade are correctly licensed and fit and proper persons
- All vehicles are roadworthy and comply with the Road Traffic Act and other relevant legislation
- Members of the public can travel in safety and comfort irrespective of their sex, ethnic origin, age or physical ability.
