The Compliance Team investigate all types of benefit fraud and other fraud against the Council in accordance with appropriate legislation.
The aim of the benefit fraud team is to ensure the right benefit is paid to the right person at the right time. To ensure a multi-agency approach is adopted whenever possible, the team work in partnership with the Police and the Department for Work and Pensions and in some cases when prosecution is appropriate, the details are referred to the Crown Prosecution Service.
A Senior Corporate Compliance Officer within the team carries out investigations into corporate fraud, Blue Badges and disciplinary matters.
