Property Records can confirm if a fence is the Council’s responsibility to maintain (and if so resolve any issues regarding its condition) or, where a property was sold by the Council, which boundaries the purchaser was given responsibility for maintaining.
The council does not hold any records regarding houses that have always been in private ownership and as a general rule the Council is not responsible for the securing the perimeter of private properties, whether previously owned by the Council or not.
If you are unsure whether a boundary fence is your responsibility please consult the deeds for your property (or ask your landlord to check theirs) in the first instance.
