Youth Service

Service Overview 

The aims of the Youth Service are:

 

To assist young people in their transition from dependence to independence by facilitating their personal and social development, and enabling them to have a voice, influence and place in society.

 

To work with partners to raise the self-esteem of young people, encourage personal ambition and help them achieve personal fulfilment and valued members of their community

 

To work with partners in specific targeted programmes to encourage young people who are at risk of exclusion ( socially, vocationally and educationally) to take up the opportunities available to them and achieve success.

 

To ensure that young people are offered choice and control , and the support, information, advice and guidance necessary to enable them to exercise it responsibly and effectively within their own lives and the projects they engage with.

 

Ensure that all the provision made through the service meets the expressed and evidenced youth work needs of young people in priority areas of the city

Ensure that all youth work provision is planned according to evidenced need, with clear outcomes and the involvement of young people in judging whether outcomes have been met.

 

Ensure that all youth work provision is monitored, assessed and recorded on a regular and ongoing basis and recommendations for improvement fed back to delivery staff.
