Street nameplates

Peterborough City Council is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair and replacement of street nameplates across the greater city area with the exception of new developments where the developer is responsible for the erection of name plates to the council’s specification.

With nearly 3000 nameplates across the greater Peterborough area it is essential to prioritise our response to street nameplate reports with missing name plates being given priority:

  • Priority 1: Missing nameplates
  • Priority 2: All other repairs (damaged frame, posts etc.)

We endeavour to replace all missing nameplates within 28 days and act on Priority 2 reports within 3 months. Consideration is always made as to the condition of the sign, its legibility and its location when setting a priority.

How to make a report

To report a missing or damaged street nameplate you can: -

  • Fill in our ‘fault reporting’ online form
  • Telephone Peterborough Direct on (01733) 747474

When reporting a defective or missing street nameplate please provide as much information as possible such as street name, house number, shops, landmarks etc as well as the nature of the damage.

Further information about adopted highways including a list of adopted streets in the Peterborough area is available elsewhere in this section.
