Railcards

Peterborough residents can purchase discounted Young Persons, Senior, and Disabled Persons Railcards which allow 1/3 off many rail journeys.

Where can I purchase or renew my railcard?

You can purchase or renew your Railcard at the Travelchoice Centre located in the Queensgate bus station. You will need to fill in an application form, show proof of age/disability, proof of residency in Peterborough and pay the fee (cheques must be made payable to Peterborough City Council) in order to obtain a Railcard or Railcard Voucher. Leaflets are also available from these sites which have further details on the three Railcards.

Young persons railcard

The Young Persons Railcard is available to all Peterborough residents aged 16-25. The cost of this Railcard is £21.50 as opposed to £26.00 if purchased directly from the Railway Station and it entitles the cardholder to a 1/3 off many rail tickets. An applicant must provide proof of age and proof of residency (e.g. passport/driving licence and a utility bill/mobile phone bill). The person will then be issued with a voucher, which must be taken, along with a passport size photograph and proof of age, to the Railway Station where they will issue the applicant with a Young Person's Railcard which is valid for 1 year.

Senior persons railcard

The Senior Persons Railcard is available to all Peterborough residents aged 60 and over. The cost of this railcard is £21.50 as opposed to £26.00 if purchased directly from the railway station and it entitles the cardholder to a 1/3 off many rail tickets. An applicant must provide proof of age and proof of residency (e.g. passport/driving licence and a utility bill). The issuing office will then issue the individual with a senior railcard which is valid for 1 year.

Disabled persons railcard

The Disabled Persons Railcard is available to Peterborough residents and costs £16.20 as opposed to £18.00 if purchased directly from the Railway Station and it entitles the cardholder to 1/3 off many rail tickets. If another adult is travelling with you, they can also travel at the same discounted fare.

You will also need to show proof of residency. Peterborough City Council will issue you with a Disabled Person's Railcard Voucher which you will need to post to National Rail, along with your proof of disability, and they will post your Railcard to you. We recommend that you post your voucher recorded-delivery to the following address: Rail Travel Made Easy, PO Box 11631, Laurencekirk, AB30 9AA.
