- Walk to Work Week this year will take place between
26 April and 30 April.
- The national awareness raising event run by the charity Living
Streets aims to encourage employees to walk more as part of their
commute and working day, and to help workplaces encourage and
promote walking amongst their workforce.
- Walking all or part of your commute is an excellent way to get
some activity into your day, doing wonders for both your mental and
physical health. Peterborough City Council's Travelchoice team
has organised a competition to tie in with the national
event and to offer local employers another way of promoting a
healthier lifestyle to staff.
Get Involved!
We’re encouraging local businesses to join in and compete for a
series of prizes:
1. iPod Nano for
the Champion Walker (person who walks the furthest
during the week)
2. Fruit / muffin
basket and trophy for the Best Small Business
(fewer than 100 employees)
3. Fruit / muffin
basket and trophy for the Best Large Business
(more than 100 employees)
4. A meal for two
at Ask Restaurant - for the Top Co-ordinator
(percentage of staff to take part)
5. Numerous prizes
including gift vouchers and topical books in our Prize
Draw (everyone enters)
Each business needs a coordinator. This person
will encourage colleagues to join in by downloading or ordering
scorecards to record how many miles they walk to work each day. At
the end of the week employees hand their scorecards into the
co-ordinator who will submit the scores to us for a chance to win.
Businesses who took part last year will have posters and scorecards
automatically sent to them. However, if you would like to take part
and require posters and scorecards email Travelchoice@peterborough.gov.uk.
All completed scorecards and
the business information sheet must be completed and returned
to:
