| Peterborough is going to witness significant growth over the coming years, through the City Centre Framework and Hampton Developments. Peterborough has also been included in the extension of the London-Stansted growth area as part of the Government’s Sustainable Communities Programme. |

| In April 2004 Peterborough won an award, through the Department for Transport, to create a Sustainable Travel Demonstration Town. The project centres on implementing a comprehensive package of measures to help tackle traffic congestion by encouraging the use of public transport, cycling and walking. |
| Peterborough is only one of three cities in the UK to be given this status. It is our chance to demonstrate how changes in travel behaviour can keep our city moving. |
| This leaflet is designed to provide an introduction to the Travelchoice campaign and how, over the next five years, schemes will be implemented that will make a real difference to the way we travel. |
