Events and Newsletters
Throughout the year Travelchoice hold a
variety of events and exhibitions promoting cycling, including
National Bike Week and the Tour Series. For those of you who would
like to keep in touch with Peterborough's cycling news, there is

Bike Week
2011
During Bike Week Travelchoice organised and
hosted a range of events and activities to help encourage
Peterborough residents to dust off their saddles and feel the wind
in their hair.
Throughout the week Travelchoice visited eight
local businesses, engaging with over 150 employees about travelling
to work and other cycling related issues.
Travelchoice also organised their annual free
cyclists breakfast on Bridge Street, which was a huge success as
usual, with 60 people enjoying a sausage and bacon butty.
The week culminated with the annual Green
Wheel challenge, which was extremely enjoyable on a sunny and warm
day, with close to 30 people attempted to complete the whole 45
miles.
The Tour Series 2011
City centre streets once again played
host to the thrills and spills of top-class cycling when the
Halfords Tour Series returned to Peterborough on Tuesday 31 May
2011. Peterborough hosted the challenge for the third year in
a row and thousands of people flocked to the city centre
for the race.
The one-hour race saw ten teams of
top-class riders, including Olympic and world cycling stars,
competing on a 1.1 kilometre circuit at speeds reaching more than
30 mph. The start and finish was in the revamped
Cathedral Square, giving spectators a grandstand view of the
action. The circuit also took in Church Street, Cowgate,
Bourges Boulevard and Bridge Street.
Events took place in the city centre from
11am and included children's races, community cycling events and
entertainment in the lead up to the big race.
