Green Festival Launch Day
The Green Festival launch day took place on Saturday 28 May from
10am - 4pm in Cathedral Square, St John's Square and the Cathedral
Green. It was a free event and featured a range of stalls, stands,
activities, music, games, competitions and give-aways. Travelchoice
had a large presence on the day and with the help of PECT brought a
range of exciting stands and exhibitions to the launch, these
included:
A stage bus (a bus that
transforms into a stage!), which was used throughout the day
for a range of performances including the Momo Theatre Company's
'Car-Less Talk'.
Pedal powered scaletrix, this
proved a hit with lots of children as they pedalled as fast as they
could to move their car around the track faster then their friends.
Although a couple of members from the Travelchoice team did have a
bit of friendly competition.
Rollapalloza, geared more towards
the adults as they raced on staic track bikes to cover 500m in the
quickest time possible.
Climate Change Game, students
from Hampton college kindly came down for the day and encouraged
members of the public to play the climate change game they had
created with the help of Peterborough City Council's Climate Change
team.
18 bike giveaway, everyone
who attended the event was encouraged to enter the free prize draw
for their chance to win a free bike. Draws took place at 20 minuite
intervals throughout the day and by the end 18 lucky people had
cycled away equipped with a bike, lock, lights and a helmet.
Photos of all the winners as well as more from the launch day
can be found on our Flickr site.
