Miles Better Business Miles Better FootprintChallenge

As part of the 2011 Green Festival, Travelchoice in partnership with Petereborough Environment City Trust ran a Miles Better Business Challenge to encourage businesses to promote sustainable travel to their employees.

The challenge took place between 6 - 10 June and saw employees pitted against each other to make the greenest journey to work saw 8,765 miles travelled using a sustainable mode of transport in three weeks.

To generate some healthy competition, businesses of similar sizes competed against each other for the chance to win a selection of fantastic prizes.

The competition was run in three categories. The Environment Agency won the hotly contested 250+ employee category, Atkins engineering and design consultants took first place in the 50 to 250 employees category with the final category, for organisations with 50 or less employees, won by Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT) and Mister Vinyl.

Organisations won workplace fruit boxes delivered from local farm Riverford Organics and trips to the Peterborough Greyhound Stadium.
