A referendum on the Castor Neighbourhood Plan will be held on Thursday 2 November 2017.
The Referendum will be open to all voters registered as a local government elector, residing within the Castor parish area at 17 October 2017.
The plan contains a number of policies that will affect planning applications that may come forward in the Castor neighbourhood area. The policies include requirements that relate to character, wildlife, open spaces, historic environment, businesses and recreation.
The Castor Neighbourhood Plan has been produced by a neighbourhood plan steering group on behalf of Castor Parish Council alongside the Ailsworth Neighbourhood Plan, on behalf of Ailsworth Parish Council. The referendum for the Ailsworth Neighbourhood Plan will take place on the same day as the Castor referendum, but only voters registered within Ailsworth parish area will be eligible to vote on that plan.
The referendum will cover all households within the Castor Parish Council area, which is the same area as the designated Castor Neighbourhood Area.
If successful at referendum the Castor Neighbourhood Plan will become part of the Development Plan for the area. This means that policies in the plan will be used in making decisions on planning applications in Castor.
More information on the background of the Castor Neighbourhood Referendum can be found on our Neighbourhood Plan page.
About the referendum
The Castor Neighbourhood Plan will feature a question requiring a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ decision by those voting, specifically:
“Do you want Peterborough City Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for the Castor Neighbourhood Area to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”
If more than 50 per cent of those that vote choose ‘yes’, then the plan will go to the city council meeting on Wednesday 13 December 2017 to be made part of the development plan for the area.
