In April 2015, care and support in England changed for the better and helps to make care and support for adults more consistent.
Many of us will need care and support at some point in our lives and most people will pay at least something towards the cost of their care. The national changes are designed to help you plan for the future and put you more in control of the help you receive.
Any decisions about your care and support will consider your wellbeing and what is important to you and your family, so you can stay healthy and remain independent for longer.
The Care Act was implemented in April 2015 and covers many changes to how care and support is accessed and provided to adults. Below are some of the following changes:
- national eligibility criteria to access care and support
- increased emphasis on your wellbeing and to take steps to reduce or prevent care needs
- assessments and support for carers needs
- early identification of young people who may require care and support as an adult.
