Working in the social care sector

Introduction

Working in social care offers the opportunity for individuals to work within a diverse range of services and choose from a wide variety of job roles. Whether you are looking for a career change, thinking of returning to social care or starting your working life, there is a wide range of opportunities available.  Roles include both qualified and unqualified positions with the main focus of all roles on supporting individuals and families to make choices, improve their lives and contribute to their health, happiness and wellbeing.

Often support will be given when individuals are experiencing a particularly difficult period in their lives so the work can be challenging but equally satisfying. They may need support to develop and maintain their independence, dignity and control.
