Free stalls for new market traders in April

Business / 26 Feb 2018

Peterborough City Council is offering free stalls to all new traders at the City Market in April.

The opportunity is open to entrepreneurs who want to try out new ideas or to anyone looking to expand their current business.

The council is especially interested to hear from people wanting to trade in retro clothing, home furnishings, upcycled products, vintage records and homemade arts and crafts, and businesses that are not in direct competition with existing stallholders.

The offer follows a successful first trial at the end of 2017.

The Market Management team said: "We received a lot of interest in December when we first ran a free trial, and we are hoping the spring promotion generates a number of new full-time traders joining us at the City Market.

“It's a great opportunity for anyone who has been considering launching their own business to turn their dreams into reality by having a chance to build up a customer base without incurring rental charges."

The market is also interested in casual traders although full-time applicants will be given priority.

Any new traders who stay with the market for three months will receive a free promotional video, which will be shared on the council’s social media channels.

Traders will be given their first four weeks on the market for free but don't delay as there is limited availability.

After the free trial traders would be further supported by a reduction of 20 per cent on their first eight weeks of rent.

The market’s opening hours are 8.30am to 4pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
