Afternoon tea and formal installation keep Mayor busy

Afternoon tea to meet the Mayor and the Mayor's formal installation at Peterborough Cathedral are among the dates in the mayoral diary next week.

Monday 15 June: The Mayor, Mayoress and Deputy Mayor invite residents and visitors to enjoy a tea, coffee or cold drink and a selection of sandwiches and cakes.

Students from Thomas Deacon Academy will be helping at the tables. They will also be making the floral table decorations. The afternoon tea will take place in the Reception Room, Town Hall, Peterborough between 2pm and 4pm.

Monday 15 June: The Deputy Mayor will be presenting certificates to people who have successfully passed their English language courses. The presentations will take place at The Salvation Army at 1203 Bourges Boulevard, Peterborough between 5.30pm and 7pm.

Monday 15 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will preview the new hospice at Thorpe Hall Hospice, Thorpe Road, Longthorpe, Peterborough between 6pm and 8pm.

Tuesday 16 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will have a tour and lunch at the Hindu Temple on Rock Road.  The visit will take place at Bharat Hindu Samaj, Rock Road, New England, Peterborough between 11.45am and 1pm.

Tuesday 16 June: The Deputy Mayor will attend 'Miles of Success'. This event is sponsored to raise money for the Alzheimers Society at Avery House, Eagle Way, Chaffinch Lane, Hampton Vale, Peterborough between 12noon and 3pm.

Tuesday 16 June: The Mayor, Mayoress and Deputy Mayor will attend the Anglia Ruskin University and Peterborough City Council Civic Dinner in the Reception Room, Town Hall, Bridge Street, Peterborough between 6pm and 10.30pm.

Thursday 18 June: The Mayor will attend an event to mark the 200th Anniversary  of the Battle of Waterloo.  The Mayor will join in the parade from Waterloo Road to All Saints Church and lay a wreath on the monument. The wreath laying will take place at 4pm and finish at 5pm.

Friday 19 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend The Big Chin Wag.  The Big Chin Wag is a national campaign to highlight social isolation amongst older people in the local community and raise essential funds to continue local services. The event will take place at Age Concern, 25 Westgate, Peterborough between 11am and 11.30am.

Friday 19 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend a concert for Armed Forces Day celebrations at Peterborough Parkway Sports Club, Maskew Avenue, Peterborough between 7pm and 10pm.

Saturday 20 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will open the Peterborough Heritage festival. The festival will take place at Minster Precincts (by Norman Arch), Peterborough between 10.45am and 1pm.

Sunday 21 June: The Mayor's formal installation will take place at Peterborough Cathedral, Peterborough between 2pm and 5pm.
