Armed Forces events and sculpture unveiling keep Mayor busy

The Mayor will attend Fly a Flag for Armed Forces Day and unveil a sculpture of Louis Smith next week.

Monday 22 June: The Mayor, Mayoress and Deputy Mayor will lead a service to commemorate Armed Forces Day by flying a flag. The service will take place at the front of the Town Hall, Bridge Street, Peterborough between 10.15am and 11.15am.

Wednesday 24 June: The Mayor will say a few words of welcome and make a presentation at the Duke of Edinburgh presentation evening which will be held in the Reception Room, Town Hall, Bridge Street, Peterborough between 6pm and 8.15pm.

Thursday 25 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the Louis Smith sculpture unveiling at Vivacity Premier Fitness Studio, Hadfield Road, off the A15 London Road, Hampton, Peterborough between 10.45am and 11.45am.

Friday 26 June: The Mayor will make a presentation at the 'Have Your Say' event at Jack Hunt School, Ledbury Road, Netherton, Peterborough between 4pm and 5pm.

Friday 26 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will make a presentation and say a few words to open The Musical - Annie Jr. The Voyager Academy has joined with local primary schools to produce this musical. The evening will take place at The Voyager Academy, Mountsteven Avenue, Walton, Peterborough between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.

Saturday 27 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will make a speech to mark Armed Forces Day. Armed Forces Day is a national event to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in the Armed Forces. There will be a series of events on Cathedral Square and Bridge Street starting at 10.00 am. This will include a military parade and military bands, community stalls and dances, a tea party, a biker and scooter procession, musical performances and a flypast. The Mayor will inspect the parade at 10.50am at the Guildhall and Cathedral Square. The event will conclude at 4pm.

Saturday 27 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will visit the Netherton Friendship Club Summer Sale. The sale is to raise funds for Netherton Friendship Club and will take place at St Andrew's United Reform Church, Ledbury Road, Netherton, Peterborough between 12.45pm and 1.15pm.

Saturday 27 June: The Deputy Mayor will open and make a presentation for the village photograph competition at Maxey Village Fayre. The fayre will take place at Maxey Village Field, West End Road, Maxey, Peterborough between 1.15pm and 2.45pm.

Saturday 27 June: The Mayor will attend Wildcats Live 2015.  This is an annual review for Wildcats Theatre School and Post 16 Academy when students aged 4 to 21 are given the opportunity to perform on stage with a live band singing songs which they have been prepared throughout the last term. The performance will take place at The Cresset, Rightwell, Bretton, Peterborough between 3pm and 6.15pm.

Saturday 27 June: The Mayor and Deputy Mayor will attend The Big Iftar Charity Dinner with Amir Khan. Peterborough Active Youth Group have organised the charity dinner which will welcome special guest two times world boxing champion British boxer Amir Khan. It is being held during the month of Ramadhan and guests will have dinner as the fast is broken at sunset by members of the Muslim community.  The evening will take place at Gladstone Park Community Centre, Peterborough between 7.45pm and 10.15pm.

Sunday 28 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the Annual Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance. The service of remembrance is to celebrate those that have been cremated or buried at Peterborough Crematorium or the city's cemeteries. The service will take place at Peterborough Crematorium, Mowbray Road, Bretton, Peterborough between 2.45pm and 4pm.
