Eye, Thorney and Newborough ward by-election called for September

A by-election to fill the vacant seat in Eye, Thorney and Newborough ward will be held on Thursday 7 September 2017. 

The seat has been vacant since the resignation of David Sanders in May. 

The by-election has been called after a petition from local electors was received by the Returning Officer for the city council, Gillian Beasley. 

An official notice of election will be published on Wednesday 2 August. Nominations will open the following day from 10am and will run until 4pm on Thursday 10 August 2017. 

A statement of persons nominated will be published after this period. 

Residents in the ward must be on the electoral register in order to vote. To ensure they get to vote in the by-election they must be registered by Monday 21 August 2017. You can register to vote on GOV.UK, you must have your date of birth and national insurance number available.

People wishing to vote by post must apply by 5pm on Tuesday 22 August 2017.
