Film awards and cushion festival keep Mayor busy

Annual film awards and the John Clare Midsummer Cushion Festival are among the dates in the mayoral diary next week.

Monday 6 July: The Mayor and Mayoress will welcome Chinese exchange students from Gold Apple School in Shanghai and give them a tour of the Town Hall and a talk on his mayoral duties. The visit will take place in the Mayor's Parlour, Town Hall, Bridge Street, Peterborough between 10am and 11am.

Monday 6 July: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend St George's Community Hydrotherapy Pool where he will watch a session in the pool and meet some of the pool's users. The visit will take place at St George's Community Hydrotherapy Pool, 367 Dogsthorpe Road, Peterborough between 3.15pm and 4pm.

Tuesday 7 July: The Mayor and Mayoress will visit a Year 9 Focus Day.  Year 9 students will be spending the day with local army units doing a range of activities. The visit will take place at St John Fisher Catholic High School, Park Lane, Peterborough between 12noon and 3pm.

Tuesday 7 July: The Mayor will present an award at the 10th anniversary of the Young People's Film Awards.  The evening will take place at Jack Hunt School, Ledbury Road, Netherton, Peterborough between 6pm and 8pm.

Wednesday 8 July: The Mayor and Mayoress will visit a strawberry tea party which is a fund raising event to support Breast Cancer Care. The party will take place at 8 Lyvelly Gardens, Peterborough and the Mayor will attend the event between 10.30am and 11am. 

Thursday 9 July: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the Peterborough Regional College Annual Students Award Evening.  The event will take place at Peterborough Cathedral between 6.30pm and 10pm.

Friday 10 July: The Mayor will visit The John Clare Society Festival Committee - Midsummer Cushion Ceremony. Local school children will parade through the village with trays of flower cushions to place around John Clare's grave at the beginning of the annual John Clare Society Festival. The festival will take place at St. Botolph's Church, Helpston, Peterborough between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

Friday 10 July: The Deputy Mayor will officially open Changemaker House.  The development is a collaboration between Axiom Housing and Peterborough City Council and will provide 15 move-on flats for young people. The opening will take place at Changemaker House, Maskew Avenue, Peterborough between 2.15pm and 3.30pm.

Saturday 11 July: The Deputy Mayor will attend Unity Iftar. The event will take place at Masjid Khadijah, 311 Cromwell Road, Peterborough between 8.30pm and 10pm.

Sunday 12 July: The Mayor will attend the Eye summer fun day between 1pm and 3pm.
