Fly a flag and Sport Relief event keep Mayor busy

A civic procession for the Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth event and a Sport Relief event at Planet Ice are among the dates in the mayoral diary next week.

Monday 14 March
: The Mayor and Deputy Mayor will host the Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth ceremony. A civic procession will leave the Town Hall at 9.45am and the Mayor of Peterborough, Councillor John Peach, will read out a prayer for the Commonwealth at 9.55am. Pupils from Peterborough schools - Abbotsmede Primary School, The Beeches Primary School, Eye C of E Primary School, Gunthorpe Primary School, Ormiston Meadow Academy, Ravensthorpe Primary School, Southfields Primary School and St John’s Church School - will also be taking part.

Tuesday 15 March: The Mayor and Mayoress will welcome visitors from the Police of the Czech Republic and talk about the importance of building relationship with other EU police forces and the positive work Peterborough does with the community and cohesive partnership working. The visit will take place in the Mayor's Parlour, Town Hall, Bridge Street, Peterborough between 9am and 10am.

Wednesday 16 March: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the Peterborough Energy Recovery Facility official opening. This facility has been designed to recover energy from Peterborough City Council's non recycled waste to create energy. The event will take place at Peterborough Energy Recovery Facility, Fourth Drove, Fengate, Peterborough between 10am and 11.30am.

Friday 18 March: The Mayor and Mayoress will visit the Federation of Small Businesses, Peterborough Regional College and Apprentice Week at Peterborough Regional College between 10am and 11am.

Friday 18 March: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the charity event Skating Sport Relief Celebration in Peterborough hosted by Inspire Peterborough which promotes sport and leisure activities and support for disabled people and their family members and carers. There will be an inclusive Skating Sport Relief Mile which is 12 laps of the rink, also skating, sledge hockey and much more to raise money. The event will be held at Planet Ice, Mallard Way, Bretton, Peterborough between 6pm and 7pm.
