Two public toilets in the city, managed by Amey on behalf of Peterborough City Council, have been awarded platinum status in the Loo of the Year Awards 2015.
Both the Northminster and the Car Haven public conveniences were awarded the highest accolade for consistent high levels of cleanliness and management.
In addition, the attendants who manage the two facilities were awarded Loo Attendant of the Year, which celebrates their hard work in ensuring the facilities are maintained throughout the year.
The awards are run by Loo of the Year and sponsored by Tork, Clos-o-Mat and Airfri. Amey has achieved a total of 32 awards since they began entering the competition in 2008. This is the first year they have won double platinum.
Councillor Gavin Elsey and Cabinet Member for digital, waste and street scene at Peterborough City Council said; "We are absolutely delighted to receive double platinum and the Loo Attendant of the Year Award for these city facilities.
“Amey, on the council's behalf, works hard to maintain these areas to the best standards and I am really proud that, despite the difficult financial challenges we face, we continue to provide outstanding facilities and service to the public.
Melissa Shaw, Head of Service Management for Amey in Peterborough said: “It’s great that the attendants’ hard work has been recognised and we have won these awards for eight consecutive years.
“Thanks to the continued commitment and dedication of all our employees, we have also received the highly prized platinum award for another year.”
The Loo of the Year Awards were held in Solihull on Friday 4 December 2015.
