Market light switch on and Amplifon birthday keep Mayor busy

The annual Christmas light switch on at Peterborough Market and a birthday celebration at Peterborough City Hospital are among the dates in the mayoral diary next week.

Monday 16 November: The Mayor and Mayoress will visit Fulbridge Academy where they will meet some of the students and staff and have a tour of the school. The visit will take place at the school in Keeton Road, Peterborough between 11am and 2pm.

Tuesday 17 November: The Mayor, Mayoress and Deputy Mayor will welcome guests from local secondary schools, youth council and members of the SaferPeterborough Partnership to the secondary school European Local Democracy Week. The theme for this year is ‘Living Together in Multicultural Societies, Respect, Dialogue and Interaction’ in order to promote community cohesion in schools. The Mayor will present prizes to the winners. The event will take place in the Council Chamber, Town Hall, Bridge Street, Peterborough between 5pm and 9pm.

Thursday 19 November: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the Health and Wellbeing Market Place. This event will provide the local community living in Peterborough's central "Can Do" area information about the health and wellbeing services available to them. The event is organised by community representatives and Millfield Medical Practice with a number of providers showcasing their services. The event will take place at the Beehive Community Centre, St Martins Street, Peterborough between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.

Friday 20 November: The Deputy Mayor will say a few words at the official City Market Christmas Light switch on to wish all stall holders and shoppers to the market a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. The Deputy Mayor will switch the lights on at Peterborough City Market, Northminster, Peterborough between 3.15pm and 4pm.

Friday 20 November: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the annual Peterborough Gang Show. This is a variety show performed by the scout community of Peterborough. The Mayor and Mayoress will meet the cast after the show. The show will take place at The Key Theatre, The Embankment, Peterborough between 7pm and 9.30pm.

Saturday 21 November: The Deputy Mayor will attend the anniversary of Peterborough City Hospital which has now been open for five years. The hospital's departments will be  showcasing their facilities and achievements. The event will take place at Peterborough City Hospital, Bretton Gate, Peterborough between 12 noon and 2pm.

Saturday 21 November: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend a birthday party for Amplifon who have been hearing aid specialists in the UK for 65 years and delivering private hearing healthcare in Peterborough for 15 years. The party will have a 50s theme and will have staff, patients, their families and friends joining in the celebrations. The party will take place at Amplifon in Peterborough, 37 Bridge Street, Peterborough between 3.45pm and 4.30pm.

Saturday 21 November: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend Peterborough Choral Society's annual Autumn Concert at St Mary's Church, 1 New Road, Peterborough between 7.15pm and 9.45pm.
