VE Day celebrations and a visit to Bangladeshi tuition classes are among the dates in the mayoral diary next week.
- The Mayor and Mayoress will lead a procession to mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day. The event will take place at the War Memorial and will include prayers and a two minute silence at 3pm. The service will take place at the War Memorial, Bridge Street, Peterborough.
- The Mayor and Mayoress will celebrate VE Day by lighting a beacon at 9.30pm at the War Memorial, Bridge Street, Peterborough.
- The Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend and make a speech at the annual assembly of the Congregational Federation. This assembly brings together congregationalists from all over the country to hear reports from various groups and committees and discuss ideas for their communities. There will also be an induction for the new president of the church.The assembly will take place at The Cresset, Bretton, Peterborough.
- The Mayor and Mayoress will attend tuition classes for local children. Peterborough Bangladesh Welfare Association run these classes to help children with their education and to build their capacity and capability to achieve good results for their exams. The classes will be held at IQRA Academy, Enterprise Way, North Bretton, Peterborough.
