A careers show and events to celebrate the armed forces feature in the Mayor’s diary this week.

Friday 23 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will head to The Skills Service’s huge annual skills and careers event for the region’s young people aged 14 to 24 at the East of England Showground, Peterborough PE2 6XE, between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

Friday 23 June: Burma war veterans will meet the Mayor and Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress in the Mayor’s Parlour at the Town Hall from 2pm to 3.30pm.

Friday 23 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will finish the day with a visit to The King’s School’s students’ annual Art and Technology Exhibition in the Art and DT department between 6pm and 7.30pm.

Saturday 24 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend Armed Forces Day, 9.30am to 11pm. Activities celebrating the work of service personnel will run throughout the day from Cathedral Square.

Saturday 24 June: Werrington Scout and Guide Carnival is the next stop for the Mayor and Mayoress, 1pm to 3pm, which will take place in Werrington Village.

Saturday 24 June: A hog roast in support of Napier Place sheltered housing scheme for older people is the final visit on Saturday, 4pm to 10pm. The home is on Napier Place, Orton Wistow, PE2 6XN.

Sunday 25 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the bike, walk or run for your local air ambulance fundraiser, 9.45am to 10.45am, at Ferry Meadows. Participants can choose to do either a 12km, 8km or 5km sponsored course on foot or running, or by bike, with local charity Magpas set to benefit.

Sunday 25 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will then head to Peterborough’s first ever Polish Festival, 11.45am to 1pm, where the local Polish community will celebrate their culture and traditions with visitors to Cathedral Square.

Sunday 25 June: The final visit of the day for the Mayor and Mayoress will be to the Peterborough Crematorium, 2.45pm to 4pm, and the open air annual Memorial Service. This commemorates all those buried or cremated in the Peterborough Area over the past year.

Monday 26 June: The Mayor and Mayoress will celebrate Refugee Week 2017 which is a nationwide programme of arts, cultural and educational events aimed at encouraging a better understanding between communities and celebrating the work of refugees. In Peterborough the celebrations will take place at PARCA (Promoting African Refugee Community Association), Unity Hall, Northfield Road, PE1 3QH with the Mayor and Mayoress attending between 5.30pm and 7pm.

Tuesday 27 June: The Mayor and Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will welcome Chinese students on an exchange visit to the UK in the Mayor’s Parlour between 1pm and 2.30pm. 

Tuesday 27 June: The The Mayor and Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will meet the Phantoms Under 15s ice hockey team in the Mayor's Parlour at the Town Hall between 5.30pm and 7pm.
