In the Mayor’s diary this week are Paralympic athlete Lee Manning receiving his Freedom of the City Award and a visit from Peterborough Local History Society to pick up a nine-decade slice of history from the Town Hall.

Saturday 22 July The Mayor and Mayoress will attend the Peterborough One summer carnival. The Mayor will cut a ribbon to mark the opening of the new retail park at Peterborough One Retail Park, Eye Road at 10.15am.

Saturday 22 July The Mayor and Mayoress will officially open the new Crown Jewellers store at 12.30pm. The store is at 10 Exchange Street, PE1 1PW.

Monday 24 July The Mayor and Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will host a visit by Trevor Pearce of Peterborough Local History Society. He will be presented with books of historical importance to the city. The books are bound and date from the 1920s and contain records of the meetings of the committees in force at the time. The presentation will take place in the Mayor’s Parlour from 10.45am to 11.15am.

Wednesday 26 July: The Mayor and Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will welcome basketball star Lee Manning to receive his Freedom of the City Award. Lee, who won a bronze medal at last year's Rio games, was unable to attend the formal presentation earlier in the year and will receive the award instead with his family, from 3.30pm to 5pm, in the Mayor’s Parlour.
