Mayor to launch summer selfie competition in the week ahead

A summer selfie competition and fundraising for Chernobyl Children’s Appeal are in the Mayor’s diary this week. 

Thursday 13 July: The Mayor and Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend the Peterborough Regional College Awards Evening, 6.30pm to 9.30pm, at Peterborough Cathedral.

Friday 14 July: The Mayor and Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will be guests at Ken Stimpson Community School’s assembly. Here they will present pin badges and certificates to all the students who helped with the Mayor’s Open Day in June. The assembly takes place 11.15am to 12.15pm at the school on Staniland Way, Werrington PE4 6JT.

Saturday 15 July: The Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend the Peterborough Football Association’s 125 years Celebration Fun Day to present awards, 8.45am to 10.30am. The event takes place at Bushfield Leisure Centre, Orton Centre, PE2 5RQ.

Saturday 15 July: The Mayor and Mayoress will visit Netherton Friendship Club’s Summer Sale, 10am to 12.45pm, at St Andrew’s United Reformed Church, Ledbury Road, PE3 9FR. 

Sunday 16 July: The Mayor and Mayoress will open the Eye Open Space Group’s 8th Summer Fun Day, 11am to 12.30pm, taking place at the rear of Eye Community Centre, 70 High Street, Eye PE6 7UY. 

Sunday 16 July: The Mayor and Mayoress, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress will attend the annual victims of Chernobyl fundraiser Garden Party, 2.30pm to 4.15pm, at 51 Apsley Way, Peterborough PE3 9NZ. 

Tuesday 18 July: The Mayor and Mayoress will meet and welcome the new Dean of Peterborough Cathedral, 11am to 12pm, in the Mayor’s Parlour, Town Hall. 

Tuesday 18 July: The Mayor and Mayoress will launch the Visitor Information Centre’s summer competition #PboroSummerSelfie. The competition encourages people to take selfies at a list of city attractions for the chance to win prizes including vouchers, free entry passes and a hotel stay. To get the ball rolling the Mayor and Mayoress will take their own selfie, 2.15pm to 3pm, at Peterborough Greyhound Stadium, First Drove, Fengate PE1 5BJ. 

Tuesday 18 July: The Mayor and Mayoress will say a few words at a celebration concert for the Children of Chernobyl appeal, 6.30pm to 9.30pm, John Clare Primary School, West Street, Helpston PE9 7DU. 

Wednesday 19 July: The Mayor and Mayoress will attend The Village Playgroup’s Sports Day and Picnic to present certificates and medals to the pre-school participants, 10.30am to 12pm, The Village Centre, Church Street, Werrington PE4 6QE

Friday 21 July: A Caribbean Night with dancing and music from band Zeb Rootz will take place at the Millennium Club, Dickens Street, PE1 5GD, 6.30pm until late. Tickets for the fun-filled fundraiser in aid of the Mayor's charities are £20 a head, include a buffet, and are available by emailing mayorscharities@civicpeterborough.gov.uk or calling 07506 388718.
